How to Use Categories in WordPress
WordPress categories are a great method to keep your content organised. You can have parent and child categories, allowing you to organise your content in a hierarchical fashion. Furthermore, a single post can be assigned to multiple categories. This allows you a lot of freedom in terms of displaying content in widgets, menus, and directly in your WordPress theme.
How to make a category in WordPress
Go to the Posts – Categories page in WordPress to add new categories.
You’ll see a link on the left side of the website that allows you to create categories. Fill in the category name, slug (which will appear in category URLs), and description, then click Add New Category. We’ll create a new category called Family posts for the purposes of this tutorial.
Now your WordPress site has a new category. Now, let’s create a Nephews sub-category within the Family entries. Fill in the same name and slug as the first category, but this time choose Family posts as the new category’s parent. Then, to save the new sub-category, press Add New Category once more.
ABOUT WORDPRESS
WordPress is the most popular and easiest way to create a website or blog. In fact, the software powers approximately 40% of all internet sites. Yes, more than one-fourth of the websites you visit use this platform.
The software is open-source and licenced under GPLv2, meaning anybody may use or change it for free. A content management system (CMS) is a platform that allows you to manage essential parts of your website, including content, without knowing any coding.
As a result, WordPress makes website creation accessible to everyone, even non-developers.
Once largely used to build blogs rather than regular websites, WordPress can now construct any sort of website owing to improvements in the core code and a huge ecosystem of plugins and themes.
Paired with WooCommerce (owned by the same company, Automaticc), for example, is the most common option to establish an eCommerce store!
